Frankly Speaking - Week 12
23 March 2021

Please accept this “Stop Press” update to Seeka’s growers and stakeholders. Zespri, concerned about the shortage of fruit have resolved and decided to increase the kiwistart rates for SunGold Conventional. These increases apply to all the fruit that we have yet to harvest and process in the kiwistart period and will also apply to all those growers who have already harvested been processed, some of which is already on a ship. There are significant increases, particularly in the early weeks ($1.30 per tray).

The new rate schedule is as below:

The increase in rates is an attempt by Zespri to attract those growers with lower TZG in the mid and smaller sizes to harvest to get the markets underway and the ships full.

The “first-past-the-post” remains open. This week’s rate lasts until Thursday midnight, and then there is Monday and a Thursday cutoff next week. Please remember it only applies to SunGold conventional.

Also hot off the press, Seeka has its first Hayward conventional clearance.

The medium term weather outlook is very average with a big weather system in the Tasman sea.

Happy and safe harvesting.

Kind regards

Michael
