Frankly Speaking – Week 25 Update

Please accept this report to the end of week 25 [Sunday 22 June].

I apologise for the delay in sending this update to you and will try and be more disciplined in future. We completed packing on Saturday June 14 and since then our teams have been working on prioritising fruit movements and meeting vessel commitments. Along with general fruit movements our focus has been on clearing both hail affected fruit and the remaining G14 from the inventory. Both have taken a bit of effort particularly to  meet “ship-by” rules but we have now largely cleared this hurdle. We have slightly higher early fruit loss in green as a result of this approach but hope that our remaining inventory will be more robust as a result. Early quality reports from the market are good as our fruit appears to have lesser problems than our industry compatriots so far – long may it continue.

Seeka will launch a new website tomorrow [Wednesday] and as part of that our growers will be asked to renew their logon. Our intention with the website is to provide  more user-friendly and useful information for our key users. Our market research showed that people visit our website to search for a job, to get technical support or, for growers, to get to up to date information on their orchard  or financial performance. Accordingly our team has focussed on these aspects in the new design. The website you will see tomorrow is only phase 1 – we have many plans for further developments.

Over the 8th,  9th  and 10th  of July we have arranged a series of “after 5” updates for our growers. These may be of particular interest as the aspiring Zespri director candidates will be present. Paul Jones, Doug Voss, Nathan Flowerday and Hilary Brick will all have an opp[ortunity to speak and be available to answer questions. If you are available please consider attending and I promise to keep the operations update to a minimum.

Grower After 5 Sessions

Please feel free to attend any of the following “After 5” sessions. These start with hospitality at 5pm and commence at 5.30pm. We will give you an operational update and then a chance to hear from, and meet, each of the Zespri directorial candidates. The details are below but please contact Annie on 573-0303 so we have an idea of numbers for catering.

Tuesday 8 July – Seeka Main Road, Katikati

Wednesday 9 July – Seeka Oakside, Rangiuru Road

Thursday 10 July – Seeka Huka Pak, Totara Street.

Please note we have arranged the dates so that the Te Puke Golfers have no excuse for non-attendance.

New Website Launch

Our new website will launch tomorrow. This new site has a “growers only” area where you can access your own individual fruit and financial information. Our team will email your individual grower-specific logon to you shortly. If you have any issues please contact your Client Relationship Manager and they will arrange support [being the technical savvy people that they are].

Kind regards

Michael
