Welcome to our week 22 update. Despite the disruption to harvest last week due to the weather Seeka processed 2.4m trays of class 1 Hayward conventional and 485k trays of Hayward organics. The colder weather has seen a continued rise in the brix levels, which are now on average higher than the same time last year. With rain expected to continue this week the Schedulers have buffered supply to the sheds with a lot of fruit picked over the weekend that will be processed over the next few days. Subject to the weather picking will complete later this week.
The industry has packed 74.7m trays of SunGold (conventional and organic) this year. The official estimate currently for Hayward conventional is 71.4m trays and 3.0m trays for the Hayward organic crop. With the harvest expected to complete over the next two weeks there is a view from Zespri that the Hayward crop in total (conventional and organic) will be less than 70 million trays. Our last estimate is due to Zespri this week and we then will wait to see the final submit number for the season.
Fifty percent of the SunGold conventional programme is now shipped, and the SunGold organic programme is close to 50% shipped. The Hayward conventional programme is 39% shipped and Hayward organic 42% shipped (subject to final volumes). These programmes are all currently tracking to plan.

Seeka Growers Thursday 13 June
All Growers are invited to attend the Seeka Growers council meeting on Thursday 13 June. Bruce Cameron (Zespri Chairman) will be presenting to the council on the Zespri structure and the shared cost proposal for the system and process changes at 8.30am, followed by morning tea. Anyone who then wants attend the council’s June meeting are welcome to attend from 10am.
