Frankly Speaking – Week 22 Update
Please accept this Grower Update to the end of week 22 [Sunday 31 May].
Another good week of packing operations in week 22. Post-harvest teams packed through the week and weekend standing down for a break on Queens Birthday Monday. Canopies are full. Some stresses and strains are showing from such a long continuous run but there is a lot to be satisfied with from the results. We are now well into the home straight. Fruit yields, especially size have been astounding, particularly in our Te Puke catchment. Our completion target remains 9/10 June however the very high yields and inclement weather may delay our close-out date. At that stage Seeka will be close to full.
In total Seeka handled 3.405M trays of Hayward conventional during the week including 477k loaded into controlled atmosphere storage. In addition Seeka packed some 262k trays of Hayward organic. This crop has typically been clean with high yields.
Thank you again for the effort made in presenting a clean crop. Chargeable rejects at 7.38% is comparatively low.

Our crews packed 2.9M trays of Hayward in week 22 and loaded out over 521K trays in spec and on time to the wharf. In addition to the packed volumes, 477k trays of CA/BS fruit was loaded into store bringing the storage total to 1.113M trays. Load outs are smooth but there is a stock build of larger sizes 22,25 and 27’s reflective of the larger size profile.
