The industry has made the decision to change the Gold Kiwistart rates. With the Gold Kiwistart rates changing from $2.17/TE on Thursday night to $1.21/TE Friday morning, there is concern that this cliff face in rates will create a “hole” in Gold supply through the weekend. This drop in supply has the potential to impact on the continuity of supply and Zespri’s expectation that the cap of 12 million trays will close by Thursday 5 April.
A Gold rate that cuts off on midnight Sunday 1 April to stimulate supply through the weekend has been implemented per the below table. This rate has been calculated based on the Kiwistart standard cost model and is based on dry matter foregone.
