The issues with the delays in the maturity testing results from Eurofins are continuing. As at 9am today, less than 10% of all of the samples tested on 13/03/2020 were completed. This is in spite of the continued efforts from the team at Eurofins and the involvement of Blair Hamill and others from Zespri.
The number of tests requested for today are up on yesterday, and this will continue to put pressure onto the clearance process. This is impacting on all areas of harvest from picking through to packing, and a number of our systems are now manual as we are not receiving the clearance data automatically. Growers who decide to re-test should discuss this with their CRM the impact of not having the result for the latest test on the day they want to pick.
Industry submit is now 1.9m trays, with an average size of 29.73. Seeka has packed 455K trays and from today all pack houses are packing. Maturity standards post the supply cap for Gold3 conventional are being discussed by the industry with an expectation that the colour criteria to pass will be lifted to a higher standard. When this is confirmed we will update you on this and any on how the fixes at Eurofins are progressing.
Kind regards and safe harvesting
Michael
