Grower and stakeholder updatePlease accept this Seeka grower and stakeholder update. It is a sad day for the Seeka community as we try and comprehend last night’s accident. Tragically, a van carrying a crew of 7 Samoan RSE workers crashed in a single vehicle incident between Sandhurst and Te Maunga travelling home to Tauranga after work. It was their last days work this season with their scheduled flight home at the end of the week. 1 person died at the scene, and 6 were transferred to hospital. 4 have been subsequently discharged, 1 is expected to be discharged today and 1 will need minor surgery. All 6 are expected to make a full recovery. Our RSE support team have been tremendous in responding and caring for the 6 people in what is best described as a heart-breaking accident. We are taking all efforts to care for the 6, and attend to the young family back in Samoa. On this, Seeka is setting up a fund to support the family back in Samoa and details of this will be circulated at a later date – Peter Weaver is leading this for us. I would ask that you respect the information provided in this briefing and treat it sensitively. We are doing everything you might expect to support these people through this event. Kind regards, Michael |
