Frankly Speaking - Week 11 Maturity changes & kiwistart rates
15 March 2020

Maturity sampling changes

The continued delays in maturity testing results from Eurofins has meant a number of operational changes are being implemented.

  • Gold3 conventional Supply Cap will close midnight Tuesday 17 March

  • Gold3 conventional samples requested for collection up to and including Sunday 15 March that pass any of the Gold3 maturity criteria including the kiwistart colour threshold of less than 110.7 and are packed by Wednesday 18 March midnight and will earn the week11/12 kiwistart rate of $4.01

  • From Monday 16 March all Gold3 conventional samples collected will have to pass the modified colour threshold 109.6 (approximately equivalent to 111.8, protocol B), or the Gold3 Mainpack colour threshold 106.4

  • The maturity results reporting time will be extended for the remainder of the season for both Gold3 and Hayward. Results will be reported two days from sample collection.  This change means that the results from samples collected on Monday 16 March will not be processed in time for the supply cap closure on Tuesday 17 March

  • There is a week12/13 contract allocation which commences once the supply cap has closed

    • Fruit packed after the supply cap has closed where the maturity sample was collected on or before Sunday 15 March this fruit does not form part of the contract allocation, providing it is packed before midnight Wednesday 18 March

    • The rate change on Friday 20 March has been removed and there is only one kiwistart rate for the week 12/13 allocation of $2.99 on average
