The rain interrupting harvest continues and we are looking forward to forecast finer weather later this week to fill the sheds and get on with the Hayward harvest. The up side is that the later harvest has seen most fruit above Zespri’s new minimum taste standard – that’s a relief for those growers involved. We are looking forward to getting some momentum rolling in the Hayward harvest before the nights get really cold. Brix levels are only now starting to reach optimum for storage fruit, again later than would usually be expected. The interruptions have resulted in a later targeted harvest completion expected in week 25 [20 June].
Wednesday, the 1st June is the closing of the Zespri tender for the new G3 license round and we have received a lot of feedback from growers about the closed tender and the process.
There are no market reports to date other than some less than positive reports about the G14 quality in market, and that the Gold 3 fruit in Japan tastes great.
Final 2015/16 OGRS
Zespri has released their final OGR results for 2015/16, some of the changes in the Zespri forecast are confusing. The Grower Entities team has summarised these changes and they are shown below.
